Military defense cuts are being delayed until after the election so you won't blame Obama?

What kind of political trick is that? A million military people will lose their jobs because of the forced defense cuts because CONGRESS DID NOT DO THEIR JOB AND COME UP WITH BUDGET CUTS....so to keep you from finding out, the Obama administration is breaking the law and telling defense contractors to withhold their pink slips (and they will pay their fines for breaking the law with your tax money) to keep it hush hush until after the election.

WHAT KIND OF MORONS ARE RUNNING THIS COUNTRY?

actually, odds are... those cuts won't be made at all...

maybe you should read the story beyond the headline...

congress is out right now campaigning... so they can't pass the new bill to save those jobs right now... but no one wants to see those jobs cut on either side...

just like the "gov. shutdown" they'll pass something at the last minute to avoid it...

so, the layoffs won't actually happen... again, like the gov. shutdown

EDIT: it's all politics and that is stupid... but they should hammer something out after the election

EDIT: and I doubt the gov. will fine them... I think, like any cop can, they can waive the fines...

I can't believe a million military people would lose their jobs--someone gave you a misleading figure. I'm pretty sure there are less than three million people in the military right now, and nobody is cutting more than a third of military personnel.

Next, that 'political trick' has already been delayed a couple times. This 'fiscal cliff' that you keep hearing about keeps getting bridged with stopgap measures to keep the government working without coming to an agreement. The republicans, whether they control a minority or majority of a house of congress, have decided to delay any significant legislation from happening while Obama is president. The republicans recently voted down a bill for job training and benefits for veterans returning from Iraq because they felt the way it was funded was unclear--but they can send soldiers for Iraq without any clear funding source!

I don't believe that the republicans really thought the funding was a reason to not give veterans care or job training. Even though democrats have been historically more veteran-friendly than republicans, I don't think the republicans wish to screw over our vets. What they want to do is screw over Obama. After the election, if he loses, they can pass all of the exact same things that Obama and the democrats have proposed over the last two years so they can take credit for it. It's all a stunt. Obamacare passed without a single republican voting for it--and that was a republican stunt--some who voted against it sponsored the same thing a few years before. If you've been watching Congress for the past four years, the republicans ENTIRE goal was to not let anything happen that would make Obama appear effective. And despite their efforts, they failed.

Because the lame duck congress will make a deal after the election... and all of that will be moot.

I think your definition stands up pretty well.
