Any teacher's that can give a college student advice?
So I'm a third year student, classified as a sophomore (long story), and I am contemplating changing my degree to education. I possibly may try english, however I have already taken business classes(hated it!). I am afraid of struggling seeing as I live in VA, so I assume a beginning salary as a teacher may top at say, 38000? How has your experiences been? is it worth it? Should I stick with business? Are students really terrible? I need advice!!!

Sorry, but I think you are high with a starting salary at $38,000. $30,000- $31,000 is more realistic. Virginia is a right to work state, which means that there is no collective bargaining. The Board just sets the salary that it wants to set. The contracts are a page or two long and there is no active teachers union to guard your rights. My sister worked in Virginia; I would never do so. I think that top salaries for the most experienced teachers have finally made the 60,000s. (as opposed to 0, 80,000s, and even 90,000s in major urban areas in states with a right to bargain.
It is decision time for you as a sophomore. Hopefully you have your core classes so that you can get all your methods classes and student teaching during junior and senior years. You will have to study hard, take advantage of all extra opportunities, and find ways to stand out. English teaches are very common. There are many surplus English teachers right now. Other subject certifications such as math and science are more in demand. With you business background, you may be a good candidate for assignment to high school business math classes or general math.
What opportunities have you done that help you to know that you really want to be a teacher? Have you worked students in grades 7-12 perhaps at camp, in a community center or the YMCA, maybe a church youth group? This is a huge decision. You can do it if you are 100% dedicated to teaching! If you are undecided, that will show when you first do field experience, and you may be scared off.
No, students are not "really terrible" but you have to really be a master of organization, class management, and discipline strategies. If they think they can walk all over you, they will.

My first advice is to learn how to make word plural. It's "teachers"- no apostrophe. And English is always capitalized.
I hate the fact that people think if they can't succeed at anything else, they can become a teacher! If you don't really want to teach, yes, you will find the students terrible. Also, you can't live on a salary of $38,000 in Virginia.
