Why do cds for Japan have more songs?
Why is it that American artists tend to have extra songs on their cds that are released for japan (and some other countries) only?

Because they try to sell as much CDs as they can in there. Japan alongside with the united kingdom and the united states, are the three biggest music markets in the world, however, the majority of successful artists are domestic. Foreign artists rarely succeed in the Asian country, so that's why they tend to do special editions for japan.
