A vacuole is a fluid-filled space enclosed by a membrane. Vacuoles store substances within the cell.Plant cells usually have a large central vacuole which contains a liquid called cell sap. Cell sap contains dissolved substances such as sugars, mineral salts and amino acids. This large vacuole is enclosed by a membrane called the tonoplast. Animal cells may have many small vacuoles that contain water and food substances. These vacuoles usually exist temporarily.

    Hope this helps :D

Vacuoles are generaly found in eukaryotic vegetal cells.. In Vegetal cells they stock water mainly, so photosynthesis can happen.. that is why the vegetal cells have a second rigid cell wall, it stops the cell from litteraly exploding as the vacuole fills full of water.

A vacuole contains water and other dissolved substances. It is used to regulate salt concentration in the plant cell as well as the fungi cell.It is needed to ensure turgidity of the cell, otherwise it will cause the wilting of cells that might lead to death of the plant. The dissolved substances allow the cell to store rare ions as well as necessary vitamins and minerals. It is also used to store starch.
