How much work is done by the gas?

An ideal diatomic gas, with rotation but no oscilla-tion, undergoes an adiabatic compression. Its initial pressure and volume are 1.20 atm and 0.200 m^3. Its final pressure is 2.40 atm. How much work is done by the gas?

    Okay Sunny, this is what I think.

    For an adiabatic gas

    Pv^γ = constant

    since

    P1=1.2 ,v1=0.2 ,p2=2.4 v2=??

    for given gas f= 4

    hence γ=2+1/2 =3/2

    v2=(2.4/1.2 (0.2)1.5)1/1.5

    v2=0.317 m3
