Why is something as simple and straightforward as Facebook so hard to understand for so many people?

It just baffles me that this is so hard for people. Facebook was designed to be easy for people just older than 13 years old. WTH?

Update:

@Terminal, they spend hours and days on Facebook. How can one not learn from all that spent time doing the same thing? I just don't get it.

The problem for most people using FB is that the designers keep changing the privacy settings. At one point it was pretty much open. Then they started hardening security, and it caused a lot of problems and confusion. The internals of FB today are very different from the original one, and this is a problem for the casual user.

For the same reason that other people can't comprehend the complexities of less experienced people using something foreign and new to them.
