Im on one floor. Router is in living room and computers are used in 2 bedroom and living room. Probably 2 people at most on line at same time. Usage is mainly web browsing and some videos ie youtube, imbedded videos etc. Thanks!

If the computers are already connected to the same router, then they are already networked together.

There is no problem connecting two or more computers in a home network via a wireless router.

The problem would be with bandwidth usage. Let's say you have a 1.5 Mbps DSL plan. Your DSL modem can communicate with your Internet provider at a maximum of 1.5 Mbps. This connection bandwidth is shared by your entire LAN (network) via your router. If one user is utilizing 1 Mbps of the bandwidth that only leaves 0.5 Mbps for all the rest of the users on the LAN.

Here is the FCC's minimum speed guide for various applications. http://www.fcc.gov/guides/broadband-speed-guide

Standard quality streaming video requires about 1 Mbps of consistent speed.

If you are just browsing and light video usage you'll be fine, but if you want to stream HD (Netflix) you will want a faster plan.

    Good Luck...

Yes, and it sounds like you already have.

1.5mbps does not offer you much capacity. If you think about how we used to connect dozens of computers to a single T1 at 1.544mbps, it certainly is possible. Just keep in mind that videos will consume the entire pipe while in use. Unfortunately, they don't consume nice round number like one poster suggested "1mbps for 1 machine, .5mbps for the rest". It doesn't work that way. Every computer will consume as much as it possibly can to load the webpage, video, song, etc. as fast as possible. So if two people try to consume data at the same time, congestion will occur and your ping will soar. It may or may not be noticeable. For web pages, it won't really be noticeable. If you try watching two videos at the same time or one video and the other person is gaming, it will be noticeable. If you can get a faster connection, that would be ideal. But if money is an issue or faster service is unavailable, this will work.

superb Buys sells a 4 port ethernet Hub, for around $20-$25, which permits you to share the internet out of your very own computing gadget with as much as 4 different computers. All you will want then, is an RJ-5 type ethernet cable to connect the two computers mutually, that's usually fairly low-value at Lowes, or you could spend some better greenbacks and get it collectively as paying for at superb purchase. there is no longer something greater to purchase.
