I was going to say the same thing. Just practice with a tennis ball and when the time comes to really play, you'll see that your left handed handling will be improved.

Actually if you practice dribbling in the rain, It will make your handles even better when you play in dry conditions. However make sure you use a basketball that is made for wet outdoor conditions like rubber since other materials can wear out in the rain. Also don't go out if there is thunder and lightning or tornado warnings. you can also practice with a tennis ball. bounce the tennis ball of the wall with 1 hand while bouncing another tennis ball like a basketball. This will increase your dribbling skills quite a bit. You can also practice passing a basketball from 1 hand to the other. Just try not to the basketball too much if you don't want to disturb your family.
