[MTG] -Ruling question-?

My first question is about detain. My understanding is that if I detain Delver of Secrets, and it transforms on my opponent's turn, detain no longer works due to Delver taking on a different name after transformation. If this is not correct, please provide explanation.

My second question is about Mimic Vat. In EDH, is it possible to exile a general to it? If so, what happens? If not, how come?

    1) That is not correct. Detain hits the permanent. Just because the name changes does not mean it is a different permanent.

    2) Yes you can, if you choose to not return it to your Command Zone when it dies. However, unless you have some way to retrieve it from your Exile Zone, once you do this, it effectively becomes a normal creature. If you do exile it with Mimic Vat, and then someone removes the Mimic Vat from the Battlefield, the General would stay exiled, and you would not get the option of returning it to your Command Zone.

Well according to other rulings like placing an Aura onto a creature that transforms, you are wrong. Just because it flips doesn't mean anything, it's still the same thing just flipped.

Yes, you could exile a Commander to a Mimic Vat but what player would let you do that with his Commander?

Delver of Secrets when it transforms does not leave play so is still the same permanent that was targeted by the Detain ability. Just because it's name changed does not make it "undetained".
