Can I use rubbing alcohol to clean my almost 6 week old ear lobe piercing?
So on September 9th, I got my double lobe piercing done at Claire's. I ran out of the cleaning stuff they gave me, so since it's going to be 6 weeks since I got it done on Sunday, I was wondering if I could use isopropyl alcohol to clean it.. it isn't infected or anything so I was thinking it would be okay. Thanks! Oh and when I change my earrings for the first time, how will I clean the studs before I put them in? Thanks!!!

Technically you could use alcohol now, although if you can get some more piercing cleaner it'd be better. As for cleaning a new stud to put in, you can either take a q-tip or cotton ball and soak it in the cleaning solution and then rub the stud with said cotton ball or q-tip. Or you can also poor some solution into the cap and just drop in the earrings to soak in the solution.

K- I work at Claire's. I've labored with the organization for over two years and i've seen quite a lot of infections/irritations that would had been easily averted. Like many other persons have mentioned- rubbing alcohol will dry out your piercing. It'll also extend the remedy interval, that means if you try to change out your earrings you can face irritation. Additionally- it might burn, it may well sting, it just isn't a enjoyable option. Why have got to face that? What you wish to have to use is Benza Chloride. It is the Claire's ear piercing antiseptic. Which you can get a small bottle for $2.50. Severely. Simply spend the 2 fifty. The answer is gentle, but strong. It will help your piercing heal faster and higher. Using Dial and heat water can go away residue, it may not get all of the way into the piercing to disinfect and it is going to create infection and is also too harsh. Hope this helps!

Absolutely not. You should never put alcohol on a piercing. It kills all bacteria, which is not a good thing. Your body has good bacteria and that fights off infection. Putting alcohol on it will mean its a lot more likely to get infected. You just need to add one teaspoon of salt to 250mL of boiling water, dip a cotton tip in that, and clean the area of the piercing. You can use alcohol to clean the jewellery as the only type of bacteria on that is bad bacteria, and that's what ya don't want. :)

Yes you can clean your piercing with isoprophyl alcohol. It would maybe sting for a few seconds if it is still fresh. You can clean your studs with it too. It will sterilize them completly before you put them in.
