Applying for postgraduate study in the UK from Australia?

In the UK, you generally need a good 2:1 or 1st in your degree in order to go any kind of academic postgraduate study. Just getting an honours degree is not sufficient. To do a PhD, a Masters of some kind is almost always required - you have to show that you are capable of a much higher level of academic study than is needed in a first degree, and that you can produce a dissertation of sufficiently high standard.

Having said that, the UCAS site is the place where all university level applications start. There are exceptions to just about everything, so if you can find the course you want, and if there are not many other applicants (and particularly if you are going to be self-funded) then you may find that your qualifications are sufficient after all.
