A few quick ? about getting a new driver's license at CA DMV? Last license already expired...?
Hi, so I'm trying to make an appointment online to come in to the DMV to get a new license, my last one expired several months ago and I didn't renew it by mail in time. I have been looking through the DMV website and cannot find the answers to these questions. What type of appointment do I schedule on the DMV website? Will I need to retake the written test since my license is expired?? or a driving test? I have not had to retake the driving potion since I got my license at 16, which was 8 years ago. Last time I just renewed by mail on time and it was super easy. So just need to know if I need to study for the written test. Also, when I show up, do I more than one type of ID? I have a valid U.S. passport, but do I need a second additional form of ID?

Just take a picture ID ( passport) and bite the bullet and go down and stand in line, and bring $26, they have all your info, you might not have to take the test

Things are different here in UK concerning driver's licence laws. Though looks like you got some good answers. I give up driving 20 years ago because I almost ran into heard of cows. I figured if one cannot see cows on the road what can one see. I'm now partially sighted. I don't think people should risk driving if they have poor eyesight but many do. I sent letter to DLVC licencing department about it. But they replied that there is not enough evidence linking road accident with defective eye sight to warrant making all drivers take eye test every two years which was what I suggested, and if they need spectacles have it stamped on their drivers licence. Many people just pick up glasses from chemist but they can cause damage to the eyes because they have not been fitted correctly. Sorry I cannot find the information you need.

An expired license is a form of ID. If you have valid passport and an expired license, then you have two forms of ID.

take the old license and id and go stand in line at dmv/if its less than a year they may just let you renew at the desk//they have to make sure its you and not somebody that has the renewal app/
