You are blaming yourself for the break-up, and your cartoon character friends are your feelings for him, which you still have. You need to free yourself of your feelings for him in order to stop feeling guilty about the break up.

You probably really care about your ex deep down. But if something happened to him you would feel guilty. The disney cartoon part probably had to do with your childhood. I don't know but that's what I think.
