Wat does it mean when a guy calls you baby?

This guy called me baby. Wondering what he meant by that. We are friends and he wasn't joking around.

Unlike the rest of these people telling that he wants you based on him calling you baby so they will get the best answer, I will just be honest.

It means next to nothing as plain text. It all depends on how he said it.

If he says it in a soft kind tone, it most likely means he wants to be friends or slightly more.

If it is said harshly (which I doubt it was), it means he dislikes you and thinks you are childish.

If it is in a nurturing tone with a loving aspect a gentleness, he most likely wants to be in a relationship.

But I will tell you how to know:

Since you are a girl, and most guys prefer it for them to make the first move, and making the first move can scare them off, I will provide a subtle approach.

Talk in a interesting tone to him. Flirt a bit, but not too overbearing. Tilt your head down, eyes up at him, head slightly tilted, and mother SLIGHTLY opened, but not a gaping hole. That most likely will make him decide whether he likes you in that way. If he is a shy guy, you may want to make the first move after you convince him.

Possibly even do slight touching. I mean his arm, hand or on ocasion back (careful with the last one). if he responds well, see how things go, if things don't go well, back off a bit :P

All that said, him calling you baby, in and of itself, is not enough to say he wants you.

When a guy willing to calls u dear/baby/whatever endearment, he meant it if he did not call this out easily, esp Asian; For white men (my ex) he called me baby in day 2 while we were holding hands, be honest, it is kinda like " how are u?" and you will say,""great..I'm fine" seriously, we bulshit all the times do you know that? ppl say stuffs ( depends on the culture and how they being raise up) "i love u" mean nothing to a lot of ppl. I have changed to say "i Love you" that easily to others like before becasue I don't want to hurt others if they take it in a very serious way. Indeed, I don't like to give XOXO easily to anyone in the planet unless I really like this person.

He could like you or it could just be custom to him. Like my boyfriend calls me baby but also does my best friend because it's just what she does. If I were you, I wouldn't bring it up when you and this friend of yours is talking. Ask people who are his friends why he would say that.

    Source(s): I'm a call-ee of the name 'baby'

I would say that this guy is definitely into you. If you like him too then it's cool if not, make sure he understands you do NOT want him ;p

Be very clear about it because sometimes guys just don't get the message.
