    It stands for Follicle Stimulating Hormone.

    It's released from your pituitary, and has a wide variety of functions. Notably, it triggers your ovaries to grow some of your your immature eggs into something mature enough to be ovulated every month. As you get older, your ovaries become less responsive, so your pituitary churns out more and more FSH in order to make your eggs mature. Very high FSH levels, therefore, are a sign of menopause. Very low levels can indicate other illnesses like PCOS.
