Can I replace my 26x1" wheels with 26x1 1/4 wheels?
Just wondering if the axles on both are the same length.

1" and 1 1/2" refers to the width of the tire and has nothing to with the axle. The width of the axle has to do with the number of gears and the age of the frame.

That is the size of the tire not the wheel. Older bikes use the fractional size like 1 1/2 while the newer versions use 1.5 inches they are not the same.
