I want to say, Jose chose these clothes because they are his favorite. It would be Jose escogiste esta ropa porque... i need help with the rest. No online translators please they are usually wrong.

You can say "José escogió esas prendas de vestir, por que son sus favoritas". It's correct but not is the most common way to say it, my native language is spanish and I'd pronounce like:
"José escogio esa ropa porque es su favorita"
When you said "Ropa", can be used as a plural word, depend the context is used in different forms.

Jose escogió esa ropa porque son su favorito.
If you used escogiste it'd be the tu form, which means you instead of he (in this case Jose).
