Best books on Werewolfs and Vampires?

I'm looking for some good books on Lycanthropy And Vampires, I was going to get two from a author named Bob Curran, but his books have so many mixed reviews I don't know if it would be a good buy or a sour one. I wanted to get some suggestions before hand, Thanks!

Update:

A few books on Ghost would be great too.

I don't know about ANY good werewolf novels, but if you're looking for a SCARY novel about vampires, I got it. It's called 'Salems Lot'. It was the 2nd novel that Stephen King released. He was a horror writer when he first came out. This is HORROR. It is NOT slasher, it's not romance, it's a novel that will have you remembering certain scenes for the rest of your life. I'm not dismissing Curran, but I will say that he writes about where the myth originated and old boooo stories from Ireland. Just read this book for the ride, and you'll be reading the scariest vampire novel that I believe was ever written.

If you are serious try to find "The Vampirre Watcher's Handbook ---A guide for slayers."

The Author, Constantine Gregory." It is not just a book of fictional stories. It begins with "What are Vampires"Near the end there is "Vampire Strongholds." and "Further Reading" at its end.
