Car shaking at idle and interior lights flickering?

Okay, I've asked this question before but haven't really gotten a relatively straight answer. I have a 2003 Chevrolet Tracker, I've had the engine mounts and harmonic balancer replaced. I've had a full tune up, new spark plugs, etc. and the car still shakes when at idle. I've noticed it only starts shaking when RPM's get lower than roughly 700. Sometimes the car will be fine but when it shakes I always look at rpm's and they are nearly hitting 0 but quickly shoot back up to right below the 1. What could be causing this? My mechanic told me that it needs the air intake needs to be serviced and this would solve the shaking for good but I don't want to spend the money and then find out it wasn't the problem. Also, when i'm driving the interior lights and the headlights are constantly dimming, like almost flickering. What could be causing this? Thank you for your help.

Lights flickering sounds like a faulty alternator..

Go to the junk yard , buy a cheap alternator for your car to test this problem for the cheap route and see if that clears up the dimming/ flickering light problem.

Air intake sounds legit from what the mechanic told you, I had a truck that had a bad intake problem that caused me the same head ache, the bad alternator and dimming lights did the same thing too.

Additional info: check to make sure hose going to your intake is on good and tight, check the condition of hose too.

Thanks for calling me an Idiot Roger, it's been duly noted, now make yourself useful.. Go fetch a Water Mellon. Cheers!

the only thing wrong with the car is you second guessing the mechanic now you got some idiot thinking the alternator is bad because your idle gets too low.because you wont let the mechanic clean the intake which is a common problem with chevy. The alternator is fine it flickers because the idle is too low thats all. You need to listen to your mechanic and also stop buying cheap gasoline. you have throttle body injection which gets gummed up wiith crap over time it plugs up the air idle control valve which either needs cleaning or replacing and then resetting it correctly. Use your brain give the car to your mechanic and let him clean the problem. its already been well documented your mechanic told you and you dont like the answer TJB ok let the mechanic fix it he told you what the problem was already ok" heezus what a

Any difficulty with oil rigidity could be look at on the instant. loss of oil rigidity will harm your engine. First, examine the oil point interior the engine, if its ok, then different greater no longer ordinary issues could be incorrect. If the oil point is all genuine, then the rigidity sending unit could be undesirable, the electrical powered wiring connections could be unfastened, the oil pump could be failing (maximum unlikely), the filter out could be plugged (returned, unlikely), or the oil pickup tube interior the oil pan could be unfastened. Get it checked very quickly.
