I get out of the house. I don't let myself be alone
with my thoughts. I think that things could be worse
and try and work on what's depressing me. It's hard
but worth it.

Light?
Maybe not.
But I can usually stop myself from further descending into unhealthy depressive thoughts by remembering that I am not the only one with at difficult life.
Everyone has a difficult life.
Then tell myself how unattractive and ridiculous self pity is.

Get out of the house, find a new hobby and relax with your friends. Stop thinking about negative things.
Focus on yourself and your family. Surround yourself with confident people and STAY AWAY FROM THOSE THAT WANT TO DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL.
