Name of old ps1 game?

Question

There is a very old ps1 game I am trying to remember, I'll give all the details I remember. It was a 2D game and you was a spaceship and you had to shoot what was in front of you to make it blow up before it touched you, if it touched you then you lose a life.
As you progressed through the game you would get faster bullets, bigger bullets and/or shoot in multiple directions. When you lose a life you lose your perks and only shoot slowly and in a straight line again.

There are multiple versions of this game but I would like the ps1 version

i'm not sure what that's, even though it is not any longer Clock Tower. That replaced into 3-D, and you ought to no longer quite do a lot different than run from the villain, and each now and then attack them. It replaced into extra like enjoying a sort of 80's slasher movies.

Hmmm...Was it "Defender"? Like a pixelated 2d game?
