Defensive 3 seconds...changed in 2001-2002. It was pretty significant and a very bad move by the best and worst commissioner in pro sports ever David Stern. Watch when wing players slash to the bucket..you'll notice its a whole lot easier to dunk and make them look better than they are. Michael Jordan, Dr.J,Larry Bird, and Dominique Wilkins would average 34ppg in this era. Its that big of a difference in defensive effectiveness. Combine that with what stern did with removing hand checking, the nba looking over traveling, removing tough physical defense making players be PC, and more 'friendly' competitors, and special superstar treatment by the refs...and the refs being afraid to lose their jobs, b/c Stern likes the 'popular' players and teams to win sometimes, and the teams not running REAL sets, and mostly isolation plays, ..ALL of that .and you have a weaker era. The 1980's was better to watch. Ask anyone who saw it. They played with blood on their jerseys, and were WAY tougher b/c they had to be. Us old fellas aren't making this up. I love basketball regardless, and I like and appreciate the players, but I love the game so much that its sad to see it become a game of money instead of competition, fundamentals,rules, and TEAM play.
