Excel with two monitors - keeping lines highlighted?

I'm using Excel and another program to look up data and then type it into the excel spreadsheet. I have two monitors so I can look back and forth. However, whenever I make the other program the active window, any rows I have highlighted in the Excel document un-highlight until I switch back to make Excel active. I keep loosing my place in the long list of figures. Is there any way to keep my highlighting visible?

It doesn't matter if you have one monitor or two, when you switch to the other program, the highlight will disappear from Excel Window when you click in the other program Window.

To keep track of where you are in Excel, you could temporarily fill the Excel cell with colour while you are in the other program. When returning to Excel, remove the fill colour from the cell and when you want to go to the other program, again fill the cell that you are working on with colour. It is a pain but it works.

Use one monitor, with two Windows open and resize. You can also use Excel's Windows,Split option or use the Windows,Freeze the panes option.

Place the cursor inside a row and then hit the option chosen.
