No, that's completely normal. Only YOU know which answer is YOUR answer. The user names and avatars are blocked and not visible while a question is in voting for two days, unless the voting is tied .

The system IS NOT glitched up. YOU ARE a YA community member TOO. That's WHY you can vote for your answer as best answer once a question goes into voting for best answer by the ENTIRE YA community. There's nothing wrong with sticking up for yourself, but it is kind of bad form to vote for your answer if there's a better answer than yours to that question. When there's one or more answers just as good as yours, most people will vote for their own answer as best answer to that particular question.

Voting YOUR answer as best answer does NOT mean that your answer will get the most votes.

You sure can, it is not against the guidelines but it would be bad form if it wasn't the best answer. No matter if you are running for president of your Grade 3 class, for president, for parliament or any thing else requiring a vote everyone votes for themselves.
