It fires up for about 2 seconds and dies. Won't let me scan it and the tach doesn't seem to be working.

The tach should bounce while the engine is turning over. Does the gas guage work? The radio? If not

    1. Check the voltage on the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus wires at pins 3 and 11 in the DLC. Each should have about 2.5 volts.

    2. If the voltage is higher than 2.7 volts, start unplugging modules one at a time until the voltage comes down to about 2.5 volts. The modules that are connected to the CCD bus are: Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Transmission Control Module (TCM), Controller Anti-lock Brakes (CAB), Instrument Cluster, Airbag Control Module (ACM), A/C control head, radio, Overhead Display, and Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM puts out the 2.5 volts on each wire.

9 times out of ten it's the instrument cluster a quick way to test that is to pull the fuse for the guages in the box under the dash and the one labeled 'memory' in the under the hood fusebox. Pins 3 and 11 are the 2 pins 3 from the left. If the voltage drops to normal with these fuses pulled the it's definitley the instrument cluster. this is a fairly common problem the instructions I posted I cut and pasted from the manual. It's futile to check the relay or power at the pump until you check the voltage at pins 3 and 11 in the DLC connector

Assess the battery, while you turn the important thing. You must have about 12 volts. Should you do not the battery is low. If when you flip the important thing, you do have 12 volts, you will have to hear the whir whir whir grinding noise, of the engine cranking. If all you've is a click on click it's both low battery, or bad starter motor. (we had one changed final week) Oil likely will not be any a part of the hindrance. Cooling should now not be quintessential, when you have full coolant. If plugs have spark, you already have air from the air, then it would lie in the gas system, due to the fact that all you need is spark, gasoline and air. If your tank has gas in it, you then would have a bad fuel pump, or in latest cars like yours assess your manual for the fuel reduce off change. On the whole located in the again trunk or on the dashboard beneath panels, near the ft, passenger side. This change is activated in a crash to reduce off fuel from the tank so that you cannot your auto and blow yourself up if fuel has sprayed on the engine. Typically it prompts by way of a easy bump, like hitting the curb (this has happened to us on our historical ford escort. We hit a pothole, the engine died. Had it towed, it was once a .50 cent fix, pushing this little button we had no suggestion existed, the gas cutoff change. If it used to be jogging, then died, even as running, possibly a simple little crisis like a clogged fuel line filter, however you say you checked that. Final week, our van had virtually the same concern, we changed the spark plug wires, they have been shorting off the engine block. It began correct up. You might want to get a Chilton's guide, and ask for help from loved ones mechanics, father, brothers, some thing. Taking it to a shop will price you round 70.00 an hour labor and upwards of 50.00 for towing, before work is even began. A starter motor will run you up to around one hundred twenty.00 for the elements, but you'll by and large need a elevate to do it. Another thing you would do, is try to find a plymouth voyager boards, and ask the same query, that way you acquired 50 humans with voyagers answering you, virtually real time, in a forum layout, now not single query like this, just right success.

test your battery with a multimeter, check your fuel pressure by taking off the fuel line to the engine and having a friend turn the key. fuel should spit out. if not that then induction air. check your air filter and check that all the air and vacuum lines are connected to your air filter box and main induction hose. also try spraying a little brake parts cleaner on the mass airflow sensor.
