Why does my neck hurt :(?

Lately my neck has been hurting. I'm 14, freshman and a girl. My neck has been hurting lately and it's so annoying.

-I would be sitting against my wall on my pillow while watching tv. After a couple minutes my neck starts hurting, so I move down the pillow. Now it hurts even more !

-today I was at school. I was sitting in my chair like I always do, and my neck started hurting, like how it does when I watch tv.

WHAT'S WRONG ?!

Is it my pillow? How I sleep? My neck? Did I damage something ?

WILL I DIE?!?!

First this situation is fixable- don't despair; there is a remedy in sight. I know when you're 14, its seems that this pain is always going to be there. Neck Pain can happen to the best of us. Usually it is our pillow, our posture, a fall, a car accident- there is always something that causes pain.

    Okay here are a few things to consider;

    1. check your posture while watching tv, while working on the computer. Are you looking down constantly?

    2. change your pillow. Make sure you are using a supportive neck pillow, one that allows you to have proper alignment in your neck while you sleep

    3. get a chiropractic adjustment- the chiropractor can suggest proper exercises and align your spine

    4. use a hot pack your neck and upper back muscles

    5. stretch your neck muscles

Your neck pains are caused by tight neck muscles. They will tighten up for lots of reasons, the big one this time of year is if they get chilled they tighten up trying to preserve body heat. Then when you sit and hold your head still the muscles tighten up to cause pains that you don't have when you have movements going on. To get rid of the pains you have to release your neck muscles to free up the ones being pulled tight and here's how to do that release:

    Neck:

Place your hands behind your head so your fingers meet in the middle of your neck. Press into the neck with a moderate pressure and hold. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head as far as you can, then remove the pressure from the muscles but continue holding your head down for another 30 seconds.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Your name is Bob and you are a girl?? cool,,, it's not your pillow,, it's the way you are lying on it,,, and your neck will be fine and you are not going to die.

But maybe spend a little less time sitting and watching tv and a computer and get out and exercise,, you'll be amazed at how it will help your neck,,, plus you'll be smarter

I had the same problem when my back tooth got infected. But my neck didn't hurt though. Just everything from my chin up did. Doctor would be the best bet.
