What is meant by 'seizing the opportunity to choose best answer while the answers are 'live'?

I asked a question. It said there were 4 days the question was 'open'. So I waited to see if there were other answers. One day later Yahoo is asking me to choose best answer when there was only one response (an excellent one) but I thought I would choose when more time had elapsed and allow other responses but inside the four day deadline. Then Yahoos pressure to choose best, 'seize the opportunity while it is 'live'. Surely no one sits by the computer with their tongue hanging out to be 'live'. What gives? I'm inexperienced at this and would appreciate some feedback. Also I included my email to ask this knowledgeable person further detail. Is this uncool protocol?

After 1 hour you CAN already choose a BA if you got at least 1 answer and need no more, but you don't have to - that's what that reminder was all about.

It is NOT okay to openly post your real-life mail address on YA or anywhere else on the net, because that is exactly what spammers are looking for: they will not only flood your account with junk pretty soon, but will most likely also sell your address to even more spammers. So even though you would like to award somebody the BA for your last question: if you have no way of removing your mail address and/or creating a new mail account, you should delete your old question in order to avoid damage to your mail account. Check and see whether the answerer allows mail contact by clicking his avatar, and if he does, use the link provided right there to send him a message explaining the situation.
