What gives people the right to tax the rich more?

Everyone should be taxed the same percentage. Alot of rich people got their because they worked hard. Most people voting for obama just want extra benefits.

Update:

If you didn't have the opportunity to get rich its not anyone's fault. The rich people should NOT pay for your misfortunes. You can get rich if you get a job, you choose not too. If you work hard it will pay off.

Your ignorance is astonishing. So you believe that Mitt Romney should be paying 14% in taxes while my family(which makes less than 1% of what he makes) is paying more? You sound just like the bastard. "Most people voting for Obama just want extra benefits." "47% of Americans claim themselves victims" I'm sorry but I don't want a President that hates half of America.

No, its because not everybody has the opprotinity to get rich, I had to drop out of high school when I was 16 to work to take care of my sick mother, I didn't have the opportunity to go to college, so its not like the world is full of equal opprotunotes, some people just get screwed over, so go fúck your self, rich should pay more taxes and stop bìtching about it

Source(s): I work 12 hours a day fàgget, still not rich, America is a democracy, nNOT a republic, get used to it

Because they can afford to pay more. A fair tax is one that puts an equal burden on each taxpayer, not an equal rate.

Most people who advocate for a flat tax either underestimate the rate that would be necessary or forget about deductions and exemptions. Just because you're in the 15% tax bracket doesn't mean you're paying 15% of your income in federal taxes.

    It wouldn't work anyway.

The "rich" who people have in mind don't earn revenue through a salary, thus an increase in income tax won't affect them. Instead, they generate revenue via dividends and interest from their investments in stocks and securities.

Economists have been saying for years that we should move away from a tax system predominantly based on income tax and move towards wealth taxes. In other words, taxing assets as opposed to income. However, this will be extremely unpopular with the electorate and has been put off by cowardly politicians. The time is coming though when there will be no other choice due to the sheer volume of capital being locked away via assets, stocks, securities, etc.

Well liberals cannot conceive of the idea of dong for others on their own. The7y have to have government tell them what to do. Just like the rich liberal elitists who insist on raising taxes cannot figure out they do not need permission to pay more in taxes, or give to the needy without being told.

Either that or they have figured out as long as they tell low income and poor Democrats they want to pay higher taxes, but Republicans won't let them, the gullible groupies will believe it.

Exactly! The US Constitution says that everyone is entitled to the "pursuit of happiness!" But each individual has to be the one to work to reach that goal! Nobody is holding anyone back! There is little incentive for people to make something of their lives these days! They just stand in line for the next handout!

HAHAHA. I agree with you. Everyone should pay the same percentage.

Obama is asking the rich to pay more but you are against it. And your idea is to tax them MUCH MUCH more so they pay their fair share. You sound communist haha

Source(s): (so you are saying that poor people are lazy and always had equal opportunities? Wow. Spoken like a true republican)

the Constitution gives the House the authority to levy taxes, and since they are popularly elected they are wide open for demagoguery..which lends itself to raising taxes on the smaller group ostensibly to benefit the larger one

They did that in Cuba and now they ration toothpaste.Would you rather snort all of your money and then expect the rich to bail you out?

This is a white and black issue.

And yet the rich serve the country less in the military.

Why don't they send the same percentage of their young to die?
