Is it legal to date a minor in Michigan?

I have a friend who is 17 and i am 14 and he turns 18 in January and i am wondering if it is illegal for him to date me... we both like each other... not looking for sexual things... he got held back and if a sophomore and i am a freshmen if that helps anything.

    I have no idea why so many children ask this stupid question. I suspect that the children asking it are not the brightest bulbs on the tree. Do you actually think that a status ("we're dating") is an action? Law is about what you do - or haven't you had civics/government yet?

    The term "date" (in this context) has no legal meaning.

    Now there are certainly a lot of things that an 18 year old can get in trouble for doing with a minor, especial with such a huge age difference."Dating" is not one of them. "Dating" is not an act.

    Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

    Sexual assault

    Statutory rape

    Transporting

    Curfew

    among others

    It's NEVER a good idea for a 14 year old girl to be dating an 18 year old adult.

    Although that wasn't very polite, Zhi Li is correct. "Dating" does not mean anything legally. As such, it can't be illegal.
