A resistor of R=5 and an unknown capacitor are in series. The voltage across the resistor is

Vr= 25 sin(2000t+30 degress) volts. If the current leads the applied voltage by 60 degrees, what is the unknown capacitance C?

    tan θ = ( Xc/R)

    Xc = R tan 60

    1/ ωC = R tan 60

    C =1/ (Rω tan 60) = 1/( 5*2000*tan 60) =5.77e-5 F= 57.7 μ F
