Is it hard for born again Christians to support a Mormon for President?

Pentecostals have always been taught that the Latter Day Saints are a cult--does it bother them to support a "cultist"for President?

It would be hard for me to do that, but I don't have to worry since I'm supporting Obama in this election. I've recently come to realize that much of the GOP pandering to us Christians is a false front that serves only to play with our emotions on a few key issues. When I take away those value-voters issues, I see a party that in almost no sense reflects the things that I believe as a Christian. I'm not completely on-board with the Democratic party, but I absolutely refuse to be take the bait of the faux Christian GOP this time.

Good question! I'm Pentecostal myself. yes, we have been taught that Mormonism is a cult. However, they do believe many things we believe, and I think it's important to look at someone's character and life and personal beliefs as well as whether they can lead the country and help us financially to get out of this horrible debt, and joblessness, and many other problems. I know Mitt is pro-Israel and that is very important to me. Also, I am against abortion and Obama is all for it every which way to the point of killing the baby if it survives the abortion when that baby had been full term. This is murder plain and clear! he wants to use abortion all the way through as a means of slowing down the in crease of population. But this also (in his plan) gives freedom to every sex offender and rapist and man who would take advantage and then dump a girl. Obama's ideas are atrocious. He claimed to be a Christian yet there is nothing to support that in his character. He has lied innumerable times. WE need someone who is a lot more honest than that and not an amateur about financial things, and someone who believes in truth. Romney has a lot of good character. No one said he was perfect, and we won't ever have a perfect president, but we need someone who is godly for sure!

I am a born again Christian, and a Mormon. It is the same thing, or should be, for every member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. John 3:1-5 makes it clear that baptism is part of being born again http://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/3?lang=eng We teach that Jesus Christ has restored His true church to the earth as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has restored His priesthood authority within the Church to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins. That is authority one cannot receive from reading the Bible or attending a theological school; it must come from God in His one true church, and is part of being a born again Christian.

Anyway, following the Constitution of the United States means not voting either for or against a candidate because of his or her religious views. The simple question is, who is the best candidate, who will do the best job in office?

we live in a country where the personal religious beliefs of a candidate are not supposed to be considered due to seperation of church and state. we are supposed to cast our votes based on the candidates stand on issues, not on their religion or religious affiliations or lack thereof.

as a pentecostal believer, i myself am more concerned with the fact that romney represents less government and more private sector and individual responsibility for the running of our country. i wish he were not a mormon, but the fact that he is also means that he is conservative in his views on issues that matter to me, so in that sense, i would say, no it doesn't bother me that he is a member of a religious cult. i don't believe that he is planning to try to make everyone a mormon or that he is going to allow his personal religious beliefs to hinder his ability to down size federal government and roll back controls and restore the running of the country to the people rather than the government.

if it turns out that he is just as ineffective as obama has been in bringing positive change we were promised in 08, then we will be disappointed yet again, but frankly we all have to face the fact that the president is only one man. he is not able to single handedly rid our nation of all it's ills or right the wrongs or set us on a better course without the help of other lawmakers...which is indeed as it should be.

Huffyb, it does present a problem that we as Christians have to face. Two lines of thought here, Obama spent twenty years in a church controlled by rev. Wright who certainly was {not} a Christian and preached rebellion to church and country. Obama allowed his family {children} to be subjected to this heresy. On the other hand Romney {is} a member of a {cult} but still, he has conducted himself honorably in a rebellious world, he is a pro-family and pro-life and is a more capable person to lead this country, Obama is just not up to the job.. As the Captain, Commander said, " We have to pick the lessor of two [weevil's]."

I would think that mature born again Christians would know that religion is just a tool God uses to bring people to Christ. It was not meant to be a reason for contention. However, Satan uses whatever tools are placed before him.

Knowing that God only cares about the heart, it should be easy to vote for a person who highly esteems the same values. No one practices born again Christian values like Mormons do.

It's not hard because I don't base my choice on the faith of either man. I do believe Mormonism is more of a cult. I'm not happy about it but I like him better than the current president. And Obama claims to be Christian. At least Romney is a Republican

perhaps I shouldnt answer this...because I am a Mormon. But let me tell you what we believe

we belive in Jesus christ as our savior, the redeemer of the world. he is the corner stone of our belief..without Jesus we have no relgion. Jesus is the way the truth and the light.

We are not a pro-testant church, we didnt come out of the roman catholic church. We are not part of the dead tree..

Just as the church of old had a particular program.....

Living prophets...apostles...temples...the holy priesthood...the Abrahmic covenant..

baptism...confirmation..receiving the holy ghost by the laying on of hands....

we have the sacred ordiances that israel had.....ecept the law of sacrafice...as jesus's atonement was the ultimate sacrafice....

we belive in God the eternal father as the literal father of jesus the Chrsit.

we have everything israel had when God was with them.......

the world has taken the bible and stripped it of its laws and statutes....they have watered down that which was sacred....

    in rev 13...............................it says

" and here is the pateince of the saints...it doesnt say....." here is the patience of the baptists...it doesnt say " here is the patience of the born agains......it doesnt say here is the pateince of the catholics.....it says..............." here is the patience of the saints."

we are the church of jesus chrsist of latter day saints

we are the people spoken of in the bible...rev 13-22

and as in the days of old...the people of God were a Hiss and a by word.....so too are we a hiss and a by word

    MORMONS

we are the people of God...and we shall one day join Israel the jew.....and stand together as the people of God...we are the saints of the new world....the jew is the saint of the old world...

We are the ultimate christian.....who has the same program the children of israel had....

they had living prophets...temples...the holy priesthood......the temple ordiance with the ark of the covenant.....

if we are a cult to you...................then you err in not knowing your scriptures

what ever was the true relgion with the children of israel.....will be the same program now.

God doesnt change his program...................what he gave to early man he gave to modern man

As a Christian, it's easier for me to support Romney than Obama. Even though I think Mormonism is a cult, at least Mitt Romney expresses Christian values. How the heck can I take Obama seriously as a Christian when he goes on TV and says that gays should be able to get married, and women should be able to get abortions?

From different postings, TV interviews, articles, and other media stuff I've seen about your average American's opinion....YA, some of them cannot back him for that reason ALONE....

In all fairness, many of the peeps I've seen with this opinion also think Obama is a Muslim...
