how do i photoshop something from one picture into another?

im trying to use photoshop and put a picture of sub zero into one of my old photos(just for fun) but im having trouble removing him from the picture, i googled this before and found a similar question and it said use the magnetic lasso and i have him selected but i have trouble moving him. i somehow moved him once but when i did it was just a white space in the shape of sub zero help?

i just did what you said and the whole image still gets moved????

    Lasso your boy sub-zero and then press ctrl-c. Then, create a new layer and past him there. Once you do that, you can move the layer over the other picture.

    If you want to move in, switch from the marquee tool (once you lasso him), and then use the pointer tool (the first tool on the toolbar). click anywhere in his image, then drag to the image over to your image you want to place him in.

    make your selection, then click Edit > Copy (or press CTRL+C). Open the other image, click Edit > Paste (or press CTRL+V).
