    2. Julie has several coins, all nickels and quarters, in her piggy bank. The total amount of money that she has is $15.65. If Julie has 13 more nickels than quarters, how many quarters does she have?

    N = Nickel

    Q = quarter

    .05N + .25Q = $ 15.65 ← eq1

    Eq1 x 100

    Result → 5N + 25Q = 1565

    N = Q + 13 ← eq2

    Substitute eq2 in eq1

    5(Q + 13) + 25Q = 1565

    5Q + 65 + 25Q = 1565

    30Q = 1565 – 65

    30Q = 1500

    ======================

    Quarter = 50 Pieces ◄ Ans

    ======================

    From eq2

    N = Q + 13

    N = 50 + 13

    ===================

    Nickel = 63 Pieces ◄ Ans

    ===================

    3. The owner of the most amazing circus was counting the money from the day's ticket sales. He knew that a total of 522 tickets were sold. Adult tickets cost 15$ each and children's tickets cost 8$ each. If the total receipts for the day were $5086.00, how many of each kind of ticket were sold?

    A = Adult Ticket

    C = Children Ticket

    Total Ticket Sold = 522

    A + C = 522 ← eq1

    A = 522 – C ← eq2

    $15A + $8C = $5086 ← eq3

    Substitute eq2 to eq3

    15(522 – C) + 8C = 5086

    7830 – 15C + 8C = 5086

    7C = 2744

    =========================

    Children = 392 Tickets ◄ Ans

    =========================

    From eq2

    A = 522 – C

    A = 522 - 392

    ===========================

    Adult = 130 Tickets ◄ Ans

    ===========================

    4. For the County cheer leading competition there was 206 more tickets sold at the door than were sold in advance. The tickets sold at the door cost $10 and the tickets sold in advance cost $6. The total amount of sales for both types of tickets was $6828. How many each type of ticket was sold?

    Total tickets sold = Door Sold (DS) + Advance Sold(AS)

    DS = AS + 206 ← eq1

    $10DS + $6AS = $ 6828 ← eq2

    Substitute eq1 to eq2

    10(AS + 206) + 6AS = 6828

    10AS + 2060 + 6 AS = 6828

    16AS = 6828 – 2060

    16 AS = 4768

    =================================

    Advance Sold = 298 tickets ◄ Ans

    =================================

    Substitute AS to eq1

    DS = AS + 206

    DS = 298 + 206

    ================================

    Door Sold = 504 tickets ◄ Ans

    ================================

    5. Chasity bought 6 new movies and 2 used movies for $127.92. At the same prices, payton bought 3 new movies and 8 used movies for $133.89. Find the cost of buying a single used movie

    Chasity

    NM = New Movies

    UM = Used Movie

    6NM + 2UM = $ 127.92 ← eq1

    Payton

    3NM + 8UM = $ 133.89 ← eq2

    In eq2 multiply by (-2)

    Result → -6NM – 16UM = - 267.78 ← eq3

    Eq3 add to eq1

    Result → -14UM = -139.86

    UM = -139.86 / -14

    ==========================

    Used Movie = $ 9.99 ◄ Ans

    ===========================

    6. Juan's catering company is setting for a big event that will host 764 people. When they set up the tables they need 2 forks for each child and 5 forks for each adult. If the Juan's company ordered at total of 2992 forks, how many adults and how many children will be attending the event?

    Af = Adult forks

    Cf = child forks

    5A + 2C = 2992 ← eq1

    A + C = 764 people ← eq2

    A = 764 – C ← eq3

    Siubstitute eq3 to eq1

    5(764 – C) + 2C = 2992

    3820 – 5C + 2C = 2992

    3C = 828

    ==========================

    Children = 276 ◄ Ans

    ==========================

    Substitute C = eq3

    A = 764 – C

    A = 764 - 276

    ===========================

    Adult = 488

    ===========================

    Hope this helps
