OK, so I want to ask a question about something in the Los Angeles area but?

I actually live in the Los Angeles area ( well I actually spend most of my time here anyway unless I am doing something that's not in Los Angeles) and I don't want to be cited for posting a non-travel question in the Yahoo answers "travel" section. But my question is about something where it wouldn't involve like traveling per se, to or from something and I wouldn't actually be personally driving like a car, or taking a subway, airplane and so forth. And I don't like walking that much, well i guess flats would be OK, but not in heels and so forth for obvious reasons. Well some of those weird Hollywood boulevard type guys would "get it" I guess. Anywho,

I have seen a whole pile of objections and reports to the upper muckity mucks and powers that be, where people are posting questions that get a response like "This is not a travel question" or "You should post this in the section of this website on "Gender Reassignment" or something like that. Not that one exactly, I just made that up as a crazy example. So how far do you have to actually travel for it to be a good verified question in the travel section. Like once I wanted to know if you could still use the parking lot at the Getty Museum when work was being done on the 405. So I was then kinda sure that might be legit for the travel section. But I also added a part asking what time it closed. And sure enough some so and so said that really wasn't concerning travel but just hours of operation, so the whole dam n question was objected to and thrown out. I actually got an official formal notification from one of Terry Semel's underlings about the matter and a recitation about "community guidelines" or some such. But anyway, if your question isn't about actually moving to something, how far do you have to move to be officially traveling. Like if I am in LA County do I have to ask a question about Orange or Kern County for it to count as traveling ??? But my question isn't really about that anyway, but about how I'm going to get to a thing in Los Angeles. So can you say the question about that without a whole pile of repercussions.

Hold on ---phone !!!

Nevermind I got a ride.

Update:

Awww, thanks, Ally. Please give my best to Peddle !!!!!

Hey Paris! It's my day to stay with "uncle" Peddle, and I read him your question. He got quite a chuckle out of it, and brightened his day. Thanks! (I'm still, pretty sure he has a "crush" on you).

I've found that "Spuds" is the one that seems to always say "Not a travel question". Just ignore him. True, the Community Guidelines do ask that questions be posted in the proper category, but if it's anything related to Los Angeles I doubt most responders will care. Occasional "Violation Notifications" are just a cost of doing business ,so to speak, when you answer lots of questions. Fortunately haven't received any yet, but I have had several people "block" me (some people just can't take a joke). .

It's great to see the old Paris back again asking a (humorous) question.

    Source(s): So Cal gal.

I am not sure why this does not qualify for a travel question. After all the LA travel section has been a trip in and of itself for a long time. That questions like is some state better than LA? Or what will LA look like in 20 years stays. Go figure.

Have you considered a jet pack? A Segway if a jet pack is too dangerous for you to handle? It'll keep your feet from looking worn and torn and you'll still look sexy cruising down Hollywood Blvd. in those heels you've been drooling over the past few months, but yet never had the time to wear them.

Don't worry about the reporters. They're just jealous because they know you're cute and they will never be as cute as you so they show their jealousy by reporting you. Spuds being one of them, as he wishes to be a pretty girl!

This was a cruel joke. I was actually reading all of this, trying to get to the part where the question was, when it abruptly ended. So ya got me. I did chuckle, once I realized I'd been bamboozled. ;-)

As for getting violation notices, if I don't get one every month or two, I just get increasingly surly and obnoxious until I get one. I used to get upset by them, but now I just shake it off. Most are caused by trolls.

  • Copestir took my joke, darn it!

To count as traveling, you just need to hold the basketball witnout dribbling while you move down court. Four steps should cover it.

Don't sweat it about having questions deleted. It happens to everybody eventually.
