Anibal Sanchez is reportedly looking for a $100 mill, 7-year contract. I don't want the Twins giving him that kind of money. Sanchez is a good pitcher, but I don't think he's that good.He has a career 3.75 ERA. I wouldn't mind them signing him to a $50-70 mill, 7-year contract. But anything more, I think they should just not even go after him.
There is a possibility they could get James Shields. There's a few options they could do to get him. Upton is pretty much gone, leaving center field open. They could move Zobrist to center, or get one by trade. Span is a center fielder, who would be a good fit. He's a good fielder and a good lead off man. They also have first base open. The Twins have Morneau and Parmelee who has been great in Triple-A and it's only a matter of time before he starts hitting big league pitching. I don't see Morneau being traded, but it could happen.
Ervin Santana: http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2012-10-31/e... The Angels had already traded him to the Royals. I highly doubt the Royals will then trade him again to the Twins. So, they won't be getting Santana.
Joe Blanton: Rather he does give up around an average of a little over 4 runs a season, he is an innings eater. He can give the Twins around 200 innings. He also should be a pretty cheap option.
Ryan Dempster: Possibly. They have been targeting him over the off season. Dempster has stated he would like to pitch for a winning team considering he's 35-years-old(36 in May). The Twins are not that, but all they need is starting pitching. Right now, they have their ace Scott Diamond. If they could add 2 more quality starting pitchers, they could be back to their winning ways. They also have Kyle Gibson who's their #1 pitching prospect. Diamond + 2 other others by trade/free agency + Gibson would be a much better rotation. If the Twins get in some kind of bidding war for Dempster, they'll probably just drop out. But, if they can sign him for cheap, I say go for it. There's also a possibility of him going back to the Cubs.
Michael Bourn could be leaving the Braves. If the Braves bring him back, great. If they aren't able to bring him back, they need a center fielder either by free agency or by trade. Now, I bring this up meaning that Span is a center fielder who has been talked about being traded. He doesn't have the speed of Bourn, but he's a good fielder as is Bourn. Putting Span at the top of the order won't really change the Braves lineup by much. He's also a cheaper option than Bourn. The Braves are loaded with pitching prospects such as Julio Tehran and Randall Delgado. Instead of giving up two great pitching prospects, they could get some of these minor prospects: Sean Gilmartin, J.R. Graham, Zeke Spruill and Alex Wood. The Twins could acquire Tommy Hanson. He has been inconsistent, but maybe he can turn his career around. If they get him, they'll probably want another secondary prospect like Gilmartin. The Braves can afford to lose some of their pitching prospects for a center fielder like Span.
The Nationals could use a center fielder to put between Harper and Werth and move Morse to first base.Though, the Nationals were thinking about giving up Storen or Clippard with a few other prospects for Span. The Twins do have a nice bullpen, but there could still be some improvements. A deep bullpen can hide some of the weaker parts of your rotation.
The Twins don't really need any position player all that much. They mostly need pitching. If they can add 2 more quality starting pitchers by trade or free agency, that would help. I don't care on what starting pitcher they go after, as long as they can give the Twins quality starts every 5 days. Terry Ryan won't be going after any pitcher that will be costing a lot of money to bring in like Greinke or Sanchez. Last year, he made an underrated signing in Willingham who had a great season for the Twins last year. Ryan will do the same thing this year. He'll either get a starting pitcher by trade, or he'll sign some underrated pitcher that won't cost him a ton of cash.

James Shields: No, he is worth too much for a team that just lost like the twins did, the only way anybody is getting shields is a team willing to give up a start catching prospect.
Ervin Santana: No, he just got traded to the Royals
Anibal Sanchez: No, he is getting a ton of calls and he is asking WAY too much for the Twins budget
Joe Blanton: This would be the best of them to fit, he has struggled and going to a struggling twins team may help reinstate his career
Ryan Dempster: The only struggling team he wants to go to is the Cubs (so no)

They might get anibal sanchez, but they shouldn't get joe blanton because he sucks.
