Buying a new ps3 motherboard?
My ps3 has recently had a yellow light of death. According to most sources it's a problem with the motherboard. I have seen online that you can buy a new ps3 motherboard very cheaply (5-8$ per motherboard in packs of ten) I know I won't need 10 of them but it's still cheaper than sending it to sony and if ever I get another yellow light of death I could replace the motherboard again. They come from china where I presume the ps3 is made. Are these actual ps3 motherboards or will I be wasting my money?

I seriously doubt it for $8. The motherboard is the main component in the ps3, and the main reason for its cost.A new motherboard would likely cost near enough what the whole system costs. Since its this that contains the gpu, cpu, memory and all the other things that make it work. It sounds like an absolute scam to me. Avoid it.

From sony if anywhere. Console motherboards usually are not the same as computer motherboards. The motherboard for the PS3 will both be designed and made by Sony itself or by way of whoever sony reduced in size to make the motherboard solely for sony. Nobody else is prone to contact that motherboard on the grounds that the design and what no longer is normally copyrighted to sony and they're going to wish to make sure no person duplicates it and brings out a more cost effective well-known console that plays ps3 disc. You would: 1) see whether it is blanketed underneath guarantee 2) see how so much sony would charge to repair it( if they would) 3) buy a brand new one
