    2/3x + 4/9x

    = 6/9x + 4/9x

    = 10/9x or 1 1/9x

None of the choices that you gave represent the sum of 2/3x + 4/9x. Maybe you wrote the question wrong or provided the answers from another question?

When adding fractions, you must ensure that the denominators are the same. So, in this case, before you can add 2/3x + 4/9x, you must find the lowest common denominator between the fractions, which happens to be 9. Multiply the numerator and denominator of 2/3 by 3, then add the numerators (top part of the fraction).

    For instance, 6/9 + 4/9 = 10/9

When applicable, reduce your fraction to lowest terms. 10/9 cannot be reduced any further; however, it can alternatively be written as a mixed fraction, 1 1/9.

    Hope this helps!
