How Can I Throw Someone From A Balcony?

I'm writing a play, and at one point a character falls from the balcony. I'm wondering how I'm going to portray this on stage. Obviously, I can't use a mat in the middle of the stage, and I don't want to use the fly system because I want it to look like he's falling and not, well... flying. Any ideas?

Make sure that the guy who plays the part is really tough and have him really fall.

Have the balcony facing the back of the stage and place the mat behind it.

    Then toss him

Cast someone you really hate as that character.
