As a military member we defend.......................?

The constitution of the United States of America. The 2nd amendment more importantly. With that being said like him or not does it some what anger you when people speak ill of the Cmdr In Chief? I really didn't care for Bush's policies but I liked cause he was uber patriotic. I don't really care for Obama's policies but he gets disrespected so much.

Update:

Obviously some of you didnt get the question. I figured there were real military people here not just people looking for points.

Update 2:

Like mgan I should of put former and current military members only. Any yes I mean the 1st amendment god forbid I make a grammatical error amongst the scholars on YA. For here on out can I get responses from current or former military. Or at least someone somewhat patriotic? @ Wine wine u dirty Skunk. great point and thank you for your service.

The President doesn't just receive respect automatically, it has to be earned. Honestly, I try and respect the President as much as he deserves (no matter who is president), however, I don't pledge absolute loyalty to him/her, because that puts them up as dictators/royalty. I gave Bush as much respect as he deserved, and same for Obama. As far as the disrespect for Obama, remember that Bush was disrespected even worse. It seems that the American public disrespects whomever holds the seat, because they think that the President is God, and can fix everything that needs fixing in a heartbeat. So the President gets disrespect when things go wrong, and little or no blame is cast on the Congress. That's just the way it works nowadays.

Sadly, he deserves the disrespect directed at him. His policies and attitude towards the military, let alone the country, are disgraceful, in my own opinion of course. I respect the office that he holds of course, and if I was still active duty, I would do my duty and go where ever he might deem necessary, yet I feel his actions and words are not in the best interest of this country or its people.

So...you uphold the 1st amendment..as long as people don't use it?

    See the contradiction there?

    The President isn't Caesar

The greatest testimony to this country is the fact that you could be sitting at a bar..and the President mossies in and you could tell him he is f*cked up and has an ugly wife...and he could tell you to go f*ck yourself...and that would be that. You wouldn't be drug from your bed at 3 a.m. and have a bullet put in your skull.

I rather like it that way.

Actually, soldiers do NOT protect the 2nd amendment. If anything, they justify the need for it to exist.
