Do you love old school hip hop?
I was listening to The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. It came out in the 80's and personally I feel his flow was ahead of it's time. Who else do you feel was ahead of their time?
Yeah I think La di da di was the first song I heard by him. @Joro808 I love Nas, NWA and Scareface. I'm guessing you either dont know who Slick Rick is or you've never heard his music. There was nothing redundant about him. From his rhyme schemes to his beats. I'm sure about NWA as they are from the West Coast or even Scareface cause he was from Texas. But I'm almost certain he influenced Nas.

so many of the late 80s were ahead of their time and you're right about his flow, as well as story telling style. I love that album and it influenced Snoop Dogg's flow too.
EDIT: did you know he made La Di Da Di, perhaps his greatest song in 1984 (but released it in 85) so that's quite a lot earlier than when Slick's debut was even released

I love old school and middle school hip hop so much that it feels like every single artist who has released an album after 1996 has disappointed me.
Also ahead of their time:
Lord Finesse
Kool G Rap
Mad Skillz
Chi-Ali
Linque

yeah those were the forefathers but they had really redundant rhyme schemes i prefer a little more evolved rap such as early NaS, Scarface, and NWA
