If both your friends and his friends are saying he likes you then i think its safe to assume this is not some big plot to embarrass you Lol. Go for it, you don't have to wait for him to approach you, just talk to him and see where it goes.

Try walking up to him while walking to class and see if he does like just by his actions. You should be able to tell pretty quick by his reaction. It would help if other people stayed out of it. You'll find out that things like this only come around once in a lifetime and can't afford to lose time

How old are you? At a certain age, this indicates feelings for you. But if you are older than I what I suspect you are, then this could be a malicious attempt to embarrass you both. Just play it cool around him and see how he reacts. Talk to him. Lightly touch him on the arm or leg (if you are sitting next to him) and see what he does.

To be honest, if his friends tease you about it he probably does like you. if he didn't i'm pretty sure his friends wouldn't bother. if you like him speak to him and hang out with him more and it might become clearer if he likes you or not!
