2003 Pontiac GrandAm starting problems?

I have a 2003 Pontiac GrandAm with the 3.4. Last Thursday the car wouldn't start, I had it towed to a shop and the problem was the fuel pump. The garage replaced the pump and today it took the car two tries to start. What else could the problem be? Could the shop have done something wrong?

Going through the same thing right now on my 1998 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4L. Got the pump replaced a few weeks ago, ever since then it took 2 tries to start when engine was cold and one long try to start when the engine was warm. Bought a new pump since something most likely went wrong with the pump or one of the hoses.

First I'd look at the fuel filter. If it's not that then look at the fuel pump.

Could still be a bad/clogged fuel filter or a bad pressure regulator if it's fuel related....or a bad/intermittent fuel pump relay...or the new pump is defective.. You might be due for a tuneup or have other electrical issues too.
