Sudden sharp pain in head?

I've been having sudden sharp pain at the top middle part on the right side of my head. It last only about a second but it can be painful at times. It has been happing for several months now. It happens usually a few times a day but sometimes doesn't happen for a few days at all. I've been to the doctor for it and he just said it was a migraine. I defiantly do not think it is a migraine because this pain if much different. Would could be causing it?

Update:

By sharp I mean it feels like being stabbed with a knife

More than likely you are being forced to listen to idiots! I get that same headache when morons start talking.

In all seriousness... I think you need to go back to the doctor and ask for an MRI... if that doctor still does not help, I think you need to get a second opinion! Remember a doctor who barely passes medical school, is still called a doctor! If the one you have is not doing his job... find one that will help! Best of luck.
