I would like some post-rock recommendations for an upcoming project I have..?

I need some music to match seven different fields of a project I have coming up.

Please try to keep them.. not-so-heavy.

I am looking for post-rock (or metal) songs (instrumental, please) with the following "feels" to them:

a) upbeat; happy; energetic

b) sorrowful; sad; depressing.. possibly with an "odd" instrument for rock (violin, cello, etc.)

c) soothing; relaxing

d) enjoyable; fun (vague.. do whatever)

e) other

Thanks for your help!

BQ: Favorite post-genre?

BQ2: On a scale from 1-10, you like post-rock how much?

    What up, Sheepy?

    a. Sigur Ros, maybe? Check out the album Ágætus Byrjun

    b. Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Especially the album F♯A♯∞

    Arguably my favourite Post-____ song.

    c. Agalloch. I don't know how to describe it. Their music gives me gargantuan brain-boners.

Or, you could try this in "energetic" as well.

    d. Mono.

    e. Russian Circles. Also, try maudlin of the Well. They're avant-garde, but with a heavy post-rock influence. Check out "Bath" by them. Can get a little heavy.

    BQ: Post-metal.

    BQ2: Over 9000.

Edit: And that girl down there. She's one crazy chick. I had no idea Angelina Jolie was THIS cool!

present day-day rock sounds like a exceedingly huge type. huge names first: I extremely propose both Weezer and eco-friendly Day, fairly their later albums (e.g. Weezer's "Make have self belief" or eco-friendly Day's "American fool"). if you're searching for some element with an superior sturdy component, attempt My Chemical Romance's modern-day albums, "3 Cheers for sweet Revenge" and "Welcome to the Black Parade." for a stylish sound softened via acoustic strings (fairly piano), there is often Evanescence. (I fairly pick "Fallen" over their modern-day, "The Open Door.") If all that stuff is in elementary words too complicated and angsty for you, attempt Counting Crows. those huge names do an superior powerful interest of escaping punk and dad outcome, in my opinion: The White Stripes, The Killers ("Sam's city is their ideal album, in my opinion), and Interpol (I fairly like their song, "Evil"). Now the smaller names, inspite of the easy incontrovertible actuality that though exceedingly huge, once you've already heard each and every of the above. The Dresden Dolls are large-- the sound does not have a very large type of layers, in spite of the undeniable fact that the drums and piano are irritating sufficient to maintain it exciting, and the lyrics are more desirable sensible than huge-spread trite, to declare the least. For some element more desirable chipper yet though with a range of of distortion and about as plenty punk outcome as pop, attempt Relient ok (pick for "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek" for his or her more desirable unique sound or "Mmhmmm" for his or her more desirable layered sound).

Hey Troy~~ Dat guy up there, ^he is one cool mofo :p

    A) If These Trees Could Talk ~ The Sun Is In The North

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRnChxsD_wY

    Happy Song! xD

    B) Red Sparowes ~ Finally As That Blazing Sun Shone Down Upon Us Did We Know That True Enemy Was The Voice Of Blind Idolatry; And Only Then Did We Begin To Think For Ourselves

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy_tBZtSibY

This is the last song on the album Every Red Heart Shines Toward The Red Sun. The album is somewhat of a concept album as it tells the story (without lyrics) of how the killing of thousands of Eurasian Tree Sparrows in China led to the Great Chinese Famine in which upwards of 30 million people died of starvation in 1960. Its a pretty sad story and this album is based around the whole thing. What could be more depressing?

    C) God Is An Astronaut ~ A Moment Of Stillness

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm-k6uAFPFI

The entire album is very relaxing. Its great stuff to go to sleep to. ;-)

    D) Scale The Summit ~ The Great Plains

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHonKHWY3Q8

Anything by these guys is enjoyable. Besides that, their story of how they all met and how talented they are is really interesting and the fact the make all their guitars. :-o You should read it sometime, its inspiring.

    E) Russian Circles ~ Harper Lewis

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma27diEPqB0

You really should listen to this especially the changes at around 2:30 and 4:40 through the amazing ending, I'll be surprised if you dont like it! ;-)

I chose this song because its one of my favorites from my favorite post band.

    BQ: Post Metal

    BQ2: Take a wild guess :p
