    This is a trick question. The ship rises with the water (unless it is tightly fastened to the seafloor), so the distance would not change.

    Well, the boat floats so it wouldnt change. It would be 7 feet above water

    If the boat somehow stayed at the same place the whole time, it would be 49 inches above water.
