Is "any economic regulation" always better than "no economic regulation"?
In other words, isn't bad regulation worse than no regulation at all?

bad regulation is worse. Creating regulations so only the power will ever hold power creates far more abuse then having a wild west situation. Lets put it this way. Slavery is a form of regulated economy.

For the equal reason that 'Republican majority in house' = "Republican fault for downgrade" however 'Democrat majority in both apartment and Senate considering the fact that 2007" = "Bush fault for the crisis"

bad is not good ....bad is bad ......we know that and can agree to that.
Does it mean because we fear bad that we should do nothing?? I dont think so...
bad is rather subjective...your idea of bad might be very good or not enough in my opinion and vice versa.
The fact of the matter is ...any game must have rules.....you cannot play a footballl game with no rules and referees. Otherwise, anyone could do whatever during the game. If you have an economy....is it better to have a rule that you can go out and buy out all your competitors and have a monopoly in that industy, or to have no rule at all regarding cornering the market. Is it better to have car manufacturer make cars that pollute the air less, or better to let any car maker build and sell what they want and what people will buy? Should banks and and insurance companies and wall street be able to be free to do whatever they want..unfettered? or is it better to have some rules that banks must be banks only so that they do not take unnecessary risks? Should life insurance companies be in the business of insurance wall street mortgage derivatives and the risky way they are traded? yes or no?
My opinion is that regulations are clearly needed. Not having regualtion is essentially economic chaos...yes ..some would prefer to have that chaos.....likely because they profit from it...but most would suffer from such economic chaos while the few laugh all the way to their swiss offshore accounts.
