Is the aurora borealis often visible in Tromsø?

    YES - and NO

    Tromsø is north of the polar circle and has long dark winters, with permanent darkness for a couple of months.

    Yes, aurora borealis is seen almost every third night in the winter time and all day and night when it is total darkness.

    No, not always because it is quite often foggy over Tromsø at times.
