What wine and cheese to serve when a guest is from France?
My best friend and her husband (he is from France) are coming over for a game night. I told them I would have wine, but I want to know if I should serve cheese and crackers with it? And if so, what kind? I know it depends on the wine. I like merlot and cabernet sagivnon. I don't know what sorts of cheeses are good and I'm actually afraid it won't live up to what her husband is used to having in France... Maybe I would be better off serving something other than cheese and crackers if I can't do it "right". Thoughts?

My best advice is don't try to excel by serving somebody food from their own country unless that happens to be your area of comfort.
Cook what you know and perhaps something that they won't get often in france.

I'm not pretty sure with regards to the wine that you are going to serve, for the cheese choose the best cheese you have in your place. Maybe this could help you in choosing the wine.
