I was involved in a car accident Friday?

Everyone is fine, and it was really rather minor relatively speaking. The only fatality was my weekend. The accident was on private property. The police didn't even come. I am looking for some more info about how everything will proceed tomorrow. My question is about my car. It is a 2003 Toyota Matrix XR Sport, which is technically classified a Corolla Hatchback on my title.

The nose of the other car directly hit my drivers door, couldn't have been more perfectly centered. The car can be driven but the door is obviously not shutting properly. I couldn't even get out the driver's side, I have been having to crawl in and out through the passenger side.

I have turned off the interior lights that are usually on when the door is open. BUT the door ajar indicator is on on the dashboard. I have been starting my car every few hours hoping the battery isn't dying. So far so good. Is this light enough to drain my battery if it keeps lit for a couple more days? And if so, is there any way to disable the light for the time being?

If you have a good battery that indicator light would probably take several days at least to run the battery down. disconnect the black or negative connection on the battery and pull the cable off when you are done driving the car for the night. If you are going to look for a door on the internet yourself be sure and tell them it must be complete or some minor parts may be missing. It sounds like you got hit just perfect and no other damage

. I had that happen in a friend of mines car. I pulled out front of a bright orange pinto and he slammed the passenger door so hard the car cleared the curb and came down in the grass of a city park I slapped the gearshift into drive and foot to the floor tires spinning and shot sideways down a long city block with grass flying and ran over a tree about 2 inches wide. It tore the front end complately off the pinto and put a huge dent in a old cutlass door but that was the only damage.. I took off up into the mountains to the west while the cops shut down all the freeways and streets to the east and since I didn't go that way it worked out fine for me. I turned myself in after signing into the local hospital for a car accident the next day after giving my friend is car back. When the cops told him I blasted through the trees at high spped he though his car was destroyed after what he saw happened to the pinto front end. . The park was full of big trees but I did not hit the big ones only a tiny one the size of a small bush, so when he got his car back in great shape other than the passenger door had a four foot deep dent he was a very happy camper danm near danced for joy and almost cried. We popped the button but the door was jammed he was driving it around a week of so later and noticed trhe door popped open on a corner which worked out great when it came time to replace it.

I would not worry about the small dash board indicator light. These are usually just a small led light. It could burn for days before it drained a good battery.

I would not disconnect the battery cables.

When you're not driving the car, disconnect the battery cables.
