CCleaner Registry Cleaner?

Hiya

Just wondered if CCleaner's Registry Cleaner is safe and if its really worth doing? Does it make much difference on startup and the speed of the PC or is it opening a can of worms (i.e extra problems)? I have heard mixed opinions on registry cleaners and wondered if they are safe and worth doing - generally?

Thanks

I don't like it and can't recommend it. It has its own idea about how registry keys should be used and any programmer who decides to be creative or out of the norm might find that CCleaner flags their work as an unused/bad key.

For example, CCleaner flags some Visual Studio keys for some crazy reason.

Now it does create a backup of the registry in case something like that happens. I still don't recommend them unless your PC is already in bad shape. And even in that case the best idea is just to start over with a clean install of your OS.

CCleaner is basically a dedicated cleaner which cleans the unwanted files in your computer...for eg. when you download or open any file or site, at many places it is registered in your computer that is not needed by the computer to work.....its a wonderful software that frees unwanted space...

Norton is basically a dedicated anti-virus.....

I sugess to still install CCleaner

Yes , it is worth it I do it everyday.

Because among cookies and other temporary internet files sometimes a spyware/adware is downloaded, which in time if its not cleaned can download more just or who knows what..

thats how my wow account was once stolen..

    So clean it up

I've been happy with it and have used it for years. It's a fast process, just a couple clicks of the button, and you'll generally see an increase of performance speed (mainly thanks to junk in the registry that clogs the system).

In fact, when I switched over to mac, though there was less need for it, I also got the mac version. The only thing to watch out for is in your browser cache settings - as I visit a lot of password protected sites on a daily basis, I don't like to have that stuff completely cleaned every time I run the program.

But give it a shot. You can always uninstall it if you're not getting much out of it, and there's no downside in terms of "opening up a can of worms" with glitches or weird performance issues. It's safe.

The temptation whilst employing the registry cleanser is to apply the computerized defaults to restoration the priority in one pass. it is an exceedingly undesirable thought. you may desire to pass by all of them one through one and choose what's the superb answer. it extremely is okay for removing references to uninstalled stuff yet messing approximately with the rest will do extra harm than stable. chew the bullet and do a sparkling set up of your OS. which will velocity issues up.
